Chap Goh Meh


There is a Chinese Festival day called Chap Goh Meh day. It represents  the fifteenth and final day of the Chinese new year.  It is as an occasion of the first  full moon of the Chinese new year. This festival also celebrated as the lantern festival, which is the childrens go out at the night to the temples carrying paper of  lanterns and solve the riddles on the lanterns.
            Chap Goh Meh is marked by feasting and various festivities, including the consumption of basket cake. Basket cake was used as an offering to spirits, just before new year ( Chinese) until the day of Imlek. As an offering this cake should not be eaten until Chap Goh Meh.
            The lantern festival is a festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the Chinese new year, and the last day of the Chinese new year celebration.
            In ancient times, the lanterns were simple. It is only for the emperor and noblemen. In modern times, lanterns have many complex design, like a shapes of animals.
            The lantern festival also similar with valentinen’s day. In some countries, this festival also regarded as the Chinese version of valentine’s day for celebrating love and affection between lovers in Chinese tradition and culture.
